Staff Spotlight: Tameri Harris

I am Tameri Harris, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold licenses to practice in both Maryland and the District of Columbia. I obtained my Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Maryland Baltimore's School of Social Work. Additionally, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Generalist Social Work from Coppin State University and an Associate's Degree in Allied Human Services: Addictions Counseling from Baltimore City Community College. With 15 years of experience, I have worked in various treatment settings, providing education, advocacy, and clinical support to individuals, families, children, and community entities.


I possess expertise in delivering trauma-informed and patient-centered care while adhering to ethical and clinical standards. My skills include conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions, leading groups, performing assessments and evaluations, administering screenings, providing healthcare and disease management, utilizing an EHR system, offering support and education for caregivers, managing medication, addressing chronic health conditions, and managing other medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial comorbidities.


As a therapist, my primary objective is to establish a safe and supportive environment. I am recognized for my honesty, compassion, encouragement, understanding, and a great sense of humor. I am committed to upholding legal, ethical, and therapeutic principles. I assist individuals in identifying and utilizing their strengths to overcome obstacles and develop healthier stress management techniques. I create a secure space for clients to express themselves openly and honestly without fear of judgment.

I acknowledge that seeking therapy can be overwhelming and intimidating. It requires courage to take that initial step. I want you to feel supported throughout the journey, and we can proceed at a pace that suits you best. Together, we can work towards achieving a happier, healthier version of yourself. My therapeutic approach is diverse and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. I possess extensive experience working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I am proficient in effectively addressing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, addictive behaviors, trauma, relationship issues, suicidality, self-harm, psychosis, career challenges, grief and loss, physical trauma, emotional abuse, major life transitions, medical comorbidities, and other psychosocial stressors.


I employ evidence-based treatment modalities, techniques, and interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy/Expressive Arts Therapy, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Patient-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and Solution-Focused Therapy.


My biggest strengths:

I prioritize placing you at the forefront of our sessions and adapting my approach to your unique experiences. Ensuring that our work together is trauma-informed, which entails respect, sensitivity, and empathy, is of utmost importance to me. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and concerns.
