The Pride Center of Maryland (PCOM) Looks to Expand its Pride Weekend Footprint!
Baltimore, MD – March 25, 2024 - Pride Center of Maryland (PCOM), the state's oldest and primary source for guidance, education, cultural competency, and services to improve the quality of life, especially for LGBTQ+/SGL (same-gender-loving) youth, adults, elders, and allies of all backgrounds is excited to announce the PRIDE 2024 locations:

.
The 49th Annual Baltimore Pride Festival will mark another milestone in the city's rich history of hosting Pride events. What began as a small gathering of marginalized sexual and gender minorities in the late 70s has evolved into a week-long celebration that annually impacts over 100,000 individuals. In response to this growth, Baltimore Pride is excited to announce an expansion of its footprint, ensuring that Pride remains accessible, inclusive, safe, and a true reflection of the diversity within the LGBTQ/SGL community.
Lisa Suite, Chair of Mt. Vernon Pride, expressed her delight at the expansion, stating, “I am thrilled for Baltimore Pride to extend its footprint and include Mt. Vernon. For years, Baltimore Pride has convened in Mt. Vernon, and we're eager to ensure that this historical gayborhood in Baltimore is part of its longstanding tradition.”
Shiree Steward, Co-chair of Baltimore Pride, shared her enthusiasm, remarking, “Having been part of Baltimore Pride for three years has been a fulfilling, transformative experience. I look forward to collaborating with the many community leaders who have contributed to making Pride 2024 a memorable event.”
Tramour Wilson, Senior Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement, affirmed the commitment to Pride's significance, saying, “Baltimore Pride is Maryland's largest Pride festival, and our foremost commitment is to uphold Pride as a beacon and cornerstone for the community. As Pride continues to expand, we anticipate changes and challenges, but I am confident that the Pride committee is well-prepared to navigate whatever comes our way.”
PRIDE 2024 will be happening June 10 - June 16. This year's theme is Power of the Past, Force of the Future. PCOM wants to embrace all the gains of the past, but also continue the work of advocating for equity, justice, and safe access to well-being and protection for diverse communities. We invite the community to save the dates - June 10 - June 16 to engage with all things PRIDE 2024.
PRIDE 2024 is for everyone. There will be activities, entertainment, and resources for all. Also, PRIDE 2024 will include many satellite events leading up to our celebration that will engage, inform, and entertain our celebrants. We encourage people to start engaging with PRIDE 2024 now by choosing to volunteer, serve on one of our planning committees, and/or sponsoring the event. Information on volunteer, committee membership, and sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.baltimorepride.org.
